A Summer Getaway to Camelback Resort!

A Summer Getaway to Camelback Resort!

We visited Camelback Resort in the winter and had such a great time that we were eager to come back in the summer and see all of the different attractions it would have to offer. I mean it is just a quick 90-minute drive from NYC. You can check our winter getaway post just by clicking here.

One of our favorite things about Camelback Resort is its location. Unlike other indoor/outdoor waterparks, that look like you’re in a warehouse or abandoned parking lot, Camelback sits on 15 acres right at the base of beautiful Camelback Mountain. The view is fantastic and dreamy, where you can actually feel like you’ve gone away to a beautiful destination to relax.

Camelback Lodge

We stayed at Camelback Lodge, an eight-story mountain modern-designed hotel with 453 guest suites, featuring many dining choices, Serenity Spa, a fitness center, and so much more.

We were comfortable and cozy in our modern mountain décor and furnishings that styled our suite. It differed a bit from the last time we were there and were happy to see how each room had its own unique style to it. Our 2 bedroom suite included 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, small kitchen and a living room with a fireplace. A comfortable king sized bed as the master bedroom with an attached bathroom, a sofa bed in the living room, with a view overlooking the lodge entrance and mountains in the background. There was another bathroom in the hallway, a kitchen area, and another room that housed two full sized beds, perfect for our family.

The staff is always so friendly, helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We even received this beautiful cheese platter delivered to our room! We were so delighted to start off our stay with such a sweet gesture.

Camelbeach Outdoor Waterpark

We were so excited to experience Camelback’s Outdoor Waterpark! One of the biggest summer attractions, Camelbeach was a great time for the entire family! They offer plenty of rides for children of all ages from play structures, lazy rivers, to the much larger and thrilling waterslides.
It’s located at the base of a mountain with the most beautiful scenery full of trees and rolling hills.
Pennsylvania’s biggest family water park allows for you and your family to have fun together, with some tubes holding up to four people! With over 50 rides and attractions, for every age, there is never a dull moment.
We stayed in a cabana near the large outdoor wave-pool. Staying at the cabana was a real treat. We had an attendant who came to check up on us every now and then. They even greeted us with a basket of fresh fruit upon our arrival. It’s so nice to have a shaded place to relax with the kids in between the water rides.
The wave-pool was one of the main attractions it really is taller than average waves. My younger kids wore life jackets that were available to them right before entering the pool. They have plenty of lounge chairs by the pool and around the park for those that want to relax by the pool or just watch as the kids jump the waves.
The younger ones loved Pharoa’s Phortress, a water play structure that’s perfect for them. The kids were being sprayed from every angle and went up and down the waterslides at their own pace. They would take breaks to swim a little bit at the base before returning back to the slides.
There were slides that ranged from fast one-person mat slides to ones that a family of four could enjoy aboard a large four-seater float.
We had such a great time slipping and sliding throughout the park and were pleasantly surprised how quick the lines were. We did enjoy the park on a Monday and were glad we did. The weather was beautiful and it wasn’t crowded.
Camelbeach offers a wide variety of food including food trucks that are available for some italian or mexican cuisine. They also have ice cream stands including a Dip and Dots truck. This was the perfect way for my kids to end their day.

We worked up such an appetite! We ordered our meals right to the cabana where the kids could sit down at the tables, dry off a bit, and enjoy their meals.

Dining options include: Hemispheres, a family friendly all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant open for breakfast and dinner; Trails End Pub & Grille; Neptunes, open for lunch and dinner with a view of Aquatopia and an appealing kids menu as well as craft cocktails for adults; Graffiti Pizza, a New York graffiti-themed pizza spot; Berrelli’s Family Style Italian Restaurant offering authentic Italian cuisine and an extensive wine list in a fine-dining ambiance; Oasis, the Poconos’ most unique indoor pool and swim-up bar reserved for guests 21 or older; and more you can see on Camelback’s website here.

Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark

The best thing about planning a vacation that includes an indoor waterpark is that you don’t have to worry about the weather ruining your plans. With so many on-site attractions, the stress of planning is completely removed. We loved being able to enjoy Camelbeach outdoors but it was also nice to be able to have a different experience also enjoy the indoor waterpark!

What I loved the most about Aquatopia was the light that poured in from the overhead skylight. I felt like I could have been outdoors in the tropics with the aqua water glistening and that 84 degree temperature. The sun shines through during the day from the transparent roof and at night it is beautiful lit up with LED lights.

The park is themed around world exploration and discovery, inspiring kids and adults alike to have fun on their signature thrill rides. There’s an AquaPlay structure and seven pools!
We felt very safe in the waterpark with more than 120 lifeguards to oversee the safety of all guests and extreme cleaning procedures being employed on a daily basis. We’re all looking for a safe escape to relax and have some fun during these unprecedented times. Camelback utilizes CDC safe and approved disinfectants.
With wild slides, fun rides, cozy cabanas and more, it’s everything you want from a waterpark!

It has plenty of exciting and innovative water slides – tube slides, body slides, mat, bowl and aqua launch slides as well as kiddie slides for the youngest thrill seekers and more. You can choose to ride the more thrilling rides and then float through the lost River. My eldest, Ryan, even went boogie boarding!

Here’s a list of rides for adults and big kids:

VENUS SLYDETRAP- The only combination family raft ride of its kind in the world!
STORM CHASER- North America’s longest indoor uphill water coaster.
THE HIMALAYAN- The region’s only indoor head-first mat waterslide features AquaLucent lighting and high-speed drops.
OUTA-SPACE RACE- A high-speed, feet-first body slide.
MOUNTAIN MAYHEM- An enclosed and translucent tube slide.
CONSTRICTOR- The fully enclosed Constrictor swallows two-person rafts into its depths down through a series of narrowing then widening spirals.
PARADISE PLUNGE- A high-speed, free-fall body slide.
SKYDIVE PLUMMET- Riders step into the AquaLaunch at the top of the tower before a trap door below opens and the rider plummets into a 60-foot thrill ride.
BOMBORA FLOWRIDER- A great way for first timers to learn to boogie board or surf in a safe and controlled environment and a fun way for more experienced flow boarders to sharpen their skills.

All of my kids enjoyed KARTRITE’S QUEST too! It’s an immersive multi-level AquaPlay structure including geyser jets, rotating dumping troughs, hose jets, pull ropes, tipping cones, water guns, plunger jets, water wheels and water cannons with zero-depth entry pool at the base of the water play structure. The Platforms and stairs separate interactive zones designed for different age levels, giving guests a choice of going to the slides or the interactive water features.

They also loved PENGUIN PLAY BAY. This playful 42ʺ and under Antarctic-themed kids shallow adventure lagoon features two Penguin City themed kids slides and numerous themed water sprays, geysers, sprinklers and a children’s museum quality interactive water table.
We stayed in a cabana during our stay where we could comfortably order food and take breaks and even naps when needed. The cabanas offer deluxe features with an HDTV, mini-fridge as well as a table with chairs and L-shaped sofas.
They also have the very best staff! Everyone is so helpful and genuinely kind and want to ensure you have a great experience. We had so much fun during our stay and highly recommend the waterpark. We can see why USA Today named it America’s #1 indoor waterpark!

Arcadia Adventures

If the 37 slides and pools aren’t enough to keep your little ones entertained, there are plenty of indoor activities to choose from including an arcade room, mini golf, laser tag, bumper cars, an escape room, a bowling alley, rock climbing and so much more. We were excited to try the bumper cars this time, since we didn’t have time to get to it on our last trip!

The arcade is huge! The kids didn’t want to leave! You can find more information here.

Everything about this extensive lodge is multipurpose: Adults can relax or take part in the adventures while the kids are entertained (and tire themselves out). Camelback truly delivers for a great summer break with thrills and spills.

All of this fun is just a short drive from both NYC and Philadelphia, in the beautiful Poconos Mountains. To learn more about Aquatopia and Camelback Resort, visit their website!
